Restoring human dignity

Delia and hundreds of her incarcerated colleagues across the country are setting out to organize America Goes to Prison, a national campaign that seeks to educate and mobilize people and companies about needed criminal justice reforms in the state(s) where they reside and operate.

Imagine prison events in every state on the same day where a CEO or policymaker, cop or convict could engage in focused conversation that informs, motivates, and presents concrete action steps for criminal justice reform... What might happen?

Each event will begin with a speaking program. Short compelling talks will be given by incarcerated people, correctional officers, prison administrators from the U.S. and Europe, victims of crime, law enforcement, advocates, and policy makers. Criminal justice myths will be presented, discussed, and debunked.

The second part of the event will highlight solutions to criminal justice problems and will seek to obtain specific commitments to reform action from all attendees.

Half of the attendees will be incarcerated; the other half will be a carefully curated invitation-only list of people with the power and influence to reform the system but who have not spent much or any time visiting prisons.
